As Design Engineer and Program Manager of the project, PTP delivered design, contract documents, bid documents and construction contract award management, environmental assessments, acquisition of right of way, clearance and permitting, relocation of utilities coordination, construction management, construction inspection and document control. This project was developed in accordance with LGPP Best Practices Guidelines.
Under a single source contract, Grayson County in conjunction with the Texas Department of Transportation, retained PTP to deliver SH 289, a 13-mile new location highway with three urban grade separated interchanges. The improvements for the extension of SH 289 required new construction on new location for two lanes of an ultimate four-lane roadway from SH 56 west of Sherman to FM 120 in Pottsboro. Completed and opened to traffic in 2009, SH 289 relieves congestion along US 75. Beyond the mobility benefits, the project allows for the inter-modal, aviation and industrial development of the North Texas Regional Airport. It is anticipated that the further development of the airport will spur additional retail, construction and service employment along the SH 289 corridor. PTP Transportation also oversaw the construction of a 2.6 acre mitigation wetland as mitigation for impacts to Waters of the United States under a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nationwide Permit. Following construction, PTP seeded the wetland with seeds native to the impacted wetlands, monitored the progress of wetland establishment, and delineated the established wetland.
